Responsible Robotics Framework
Take part in our user study! (Please note that registration closes on 30 November 2024) - Deadline extended to 31 December.
We are looking for feedback from roboticists on our brand new Responsible Robotics Framework (RRF). This is a tool to help developers and others to undertake responsible design and ensure trust, privacy and security in robotic systems. The RRF has been implemented as a digital card game with some graphics and animation.
By participating in our study, you will have the opportunity to test the RRF in advance and help improve it. All you have to do is play with it and fill in a short online questionnaire in complete anonymity.
Please note that no installation is required, as the framework is an online application that runs in an internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge).
All you have to do to be part of our study is:
1. Email us (pericle.salvini@cs.ox.ac.uk)
2. Read the information sheet
3. Send back the signed consent form
4. Play with the framework
5. Answer the online anonymous questionnaire
Participants will be allowed to use the RRF until the end of December 2024. The revised version of the RRF will be made publicly available in March 2025.
What is the Responsible Robotics Framework?
The RRF is one of the concrete outcomes of the RoboTIPS project. It aims to help developers anticipate potential issues with social robots and to address socio-legal concerns as early as possible in the development process.
The current structure of the framework is divided into five categories: business, hardware, software, legal and general (this is a general category). Each contains questions on a variety of topics, with the aim of encouraging engagement beyond a tick-box exercise.
Acknowledgements
We are grateful to George Chalhoub, Jaimz Winter and Ross Gales for their invaluable help with the implementation of the framework and the user study.
